The territory of Azad Jammu & Kashmir is exposed to a wide range of natural hazards including earthquakes, flash floods and landslides. These disasters like the earthquake of 2005 and floods of 2010 have caused huge loss of human life as well as local infrastructure and economy. Moreover, in the wake of current trends of Climate Change, these extreme events would be more frequent, requiring increased adapve capacity and resilience to face them. More frequent and intense natural disasters are hampering the recovery of vulnerable communies as new crises aggravate the lingering effects from previous ones.
